Thank you for your interest in the Maine Academy of Natural Sciences (MeANS), Maine’s first public charter high school for students in grades 9-12. MeANS uses an individualized, hands-on approach while focusing on agriculture, forestry and sustainability.
MeANS is free to its students. The State of Maine directly funds MeANS based on our enrollment. We are now accepting Intent to Enroll forms for the 2017-2018 school year. A printable version will also be available soon for those who prefer to submit their intent on paper. All Maine students entering grades 9 – 11 are eligible to apply to attend MeANS as new students in 2017-2018; however, it is of importance to note that priority will be given to students entering grade 9 first, followed by grade 10, then grade 11.
Good Will-Hinckley (GWH) offers a boarding component for interested MeANS students. Boarding students will interview with the Directors of Admission and Campus Life to determine eligibility.
To begin the enrollment process, please complete either the online Intent to Enroll Form or print and complete a hard copy of the form and mail to:
Lisa Sandy, Director of Admission; Maine Academy of Natural Sciences; PO Box 159; Hinckley, Maine 04944.
If the number of applicants exceeds the number of available slots, MeANS will hold a public lottery on March 29, 2017 at 5:00 pm to determine which applicants may enroll. Intent to Enroll forms must be received by 4:00 pm on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 to be included in the lottery. Forms will continue to be accepted after this date for placement on the waiting list, or to be offered a slot if space is available.
